Common Questions About Driving Records in Texas

Why Do I Need A Current Copy of My Texas Driving Record?

A lot of people are not aware of their complete driving history, which sometimes leads to costly consequences. For example, if you have an outstanding ticket on your driver record that you don’t know about or a ticket has been inaccurately registered in your name, it can increase your insurance premium rate.

Obtaining a copy of your Texas driving record once a year ensures that your records are accurate as well.

Having an up-to-date copy of your driving record allows you to:

  • Confirm that your motor vehicles insurer is using accurate information to calculate your premiums.
  • Prepare for job opportunities and interviews that ask for a safe driving history.
  • Verify that you have paid off all tickets and traffic violations.
  • Ensure that you received credit for a completed defensive driving course.
  • Remove any mistakes your record may contain.

Do You Offer A Defensive Driving Course?

Yes, we do!

If you want to get your speeding ticket or other traffic violation dismissed, you will need to complete a defensive driving course. You may also be required to get a Type 3A driver record.  We offer a discount on driving records when purpose along with our defensive driving course.

At TX DPS Records, we offer a Texas defensive driving course as well as Type 3A driving record. Our program is accepted by all Texas courts for ticket dismissal and approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR). Our course is available in English and Spanish.

How Will My Driving Record Be Delivered To Me?

We can send your driving record via email, US mail, or UPS delivery, depending on which option you choose when placing your order. If you are in a hurry, we recommend choosing the email option to have your record in your inbox within 12 hours or less.

If you choose the regular shipping option, the record will be sent to you via US mail. Once your order has been processed, it takes 3–4 days to deliver it. However, online requests for express orders are delivered the day after processing.

What Kind Of Driving Record Do You Provide?

We provide Texas state certified 3A driving record, which is mandatory for taking a defensive driving course. This record contains information about all moving and non-moving violations and accidents (even if you didn’t receive any ticket for it).

How Do I Open My Driving Record?

If the record was sent to you via email, it will be a password-protected PDF document. You will need a PDF reading application, like Adobe Acrobat, to open this file. Your driver license number will be your password.
